Advantages of Current and Voltage Sensors

The use of sensor techniques has become a common alternative for traditional primary current and voltage measurement techniques in response to global technological advancements. For those looking for current transducers, RF analyzers, voltage sensors and transducers, and scanning electron microscope, we suitable solutions for you.
Transducers are types of sensors and are electronic devices. They convert temperature, pressure and smoke and gas and other inputs into electrical signals that can be read at the end of the wire or in a wireless area. Transducers can be of current and voltage signal type. They are used to transform energy from one form to another.
Current transducers are of two types; the direct current transducer and the alternating current transducer. The alternating current transducer combines a current transformer and signal conditioner into a single package. The direct current transducers have high performing power hence are durable, flexible and cost effective.
Current transducers are used mostly in industries for monitoring motor or heater loads. They generate low levels of direct current signal base on alternating current Amps since they have a built in circuitry.
Sensors offer outstanding advantages over the traditional current and voltage measurement appliances. Sensors have high degree of accuracy, non-saturable and have extensive dynamic range. In addition, they are small in size and haveless weight. Less raw material is used when manufacturing them hence they are environmentally friendly. The user’s safety is guaranteed against sudden electric shocks and current and voltage measurements can be combined into one physical device with compact dimensions.
Current sensors measure current basing on Rogowski coil principle. The coil is normally a toroidal coil with no iron core. The coil is placed around the primary conductor. The coil output is a voltage signal which is proportional to the derivative of primary current. The signal is then integrated in the secondary device to produce a signal to the primary current wave form. The absence of iron core hinders occurrence of saturation. The output from the current sensor is a voltage signal and the open circuited secondary connection is safe to human beings and apparatus.
Voltage is measured based on voltage divider. The capacitive and the resistive voltage sensors are available. The output from a voltage sensor is a low level voltage signal and the output is always linear throughout the whole rated range of measurement. The protection method against the ferroresonance phenomena is not considered with voltage sensors. The sensor technique overcomes the saturating effect of iron core in convention current transformers.
Just like is with XRF analyzers, voltage sensors and transducers or scanning electron microscope, voltage and current sensors are applied in many fields. Drives such as elevators and conveyors in industries make use of current sensors whereby it regulates motion precisely and energy efficiently. Sensors are also used to monitor battery lifetime and efficiency by sensing charges and discharges.  Sensors are also widely used in welding industries to determine the quality of products through regulation of current.
The wind mills used today to produce energy generate high power hence current and voltage is measured precisely to feed grids. Transport network by use of railway makes use of sensors to measure voltage and current in the system for safe railway operations.
